Our vision and mission

IDN Austin is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, and nonpartisan independent network dedicated to facilitating and empowering the voice of the Indonesian diaspora community through charitable, scientific, literary, and educational means.

On July 8, 2012, Mr. Dino Patti Djalal, the Indonesian Ambassador to the US, established IDN USA in Los Angeles, CA.

Following this, on February 23, 2013, IDN Austin was formed as the 8th Chapter of IDN USA under the guidance of Mr. Al Busyra Basnur, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia. The founding members in Austin included Butet Luhcandradini, Dian Orah Smith, Evie Thompson, Fandi Homan, Johanes Muljadi, Sarini Widodo, and Yuni Irawan.

To expand connections, multiply opportunities, and promote shared prosperity for Indonesia and its diaspora by networking the talent and expertise of the Indonesian diaspora in Austin and surrounding areas.
