The mission of IDN Austin is to connect, support, and empower the Indonesian community in Austin and its surrounding areas through cultural promotion, community engagement, and fostering professional and social networks.
A brief history
The Indonesian Diaspora Network (IDN) Austin chapter is a vibrant community organization rooted in the heart of Texas. It traces its origins back to the formative discussions held in early 2013, when a group of visionary Indonesian expatriates and immigrants in the Austin area recognized the need for a platform to connect, support, and empower the Indonesian community.
Inspired by the global movement of the Indonesian Diaspora Network, which was inaugurated during the first Congress of Indonesian Diaspora in Los Angeles in July 2012, the Austin chapter was officially formed in March 2013. This initiative aimed to harness the collective strength, talents, and resources of Indonesians in Austin and the surrounding areas, fostering a sense of unity and mutual support.

The organization has been instrumental in hosting and participating in a wide array of cultural, social, and educational events, including the annual CelebrAsia Festival and the commemoration of Indonesia's Independence Day, providing a taste of Indonesian culture to the wider Austin community.
